“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
Elliott Erwitt

Erwitt’s words sum up the way I approach all of my commercial architecture photography shoots.  Every building is unique in terms of design, textures, shapes and the way it interacts with people and environment.  I love being able to explore buildings and find a “different” way of looking at them – Patience should be my middle name!  My number one priority is to capture the essence of a building, regardless of whether I am photographing for an architect, builder, interior designer, construction company or property developer.  Over the years I have photographed a wide range of architectural styles but photographing commercial properties, in my opinion, requires not only technical skills but also an appreciation of the distinctive features of each.  I have photographed high rise hotels and offices, schools, hospitals, research facilities, factories, retail stores, mausoleums, bridges, pools and warehouses….the list goes on.  I give the same high quality care and attention to each type of structure.

For me, pre-shoot planning is a priority.  I take as much time as possible to get a full briefing from my client about the property and use specialist software to determine the best times of day to get the best interior and exterior photographs.  I also provide my clients with some suggestions on preparing their buildings prior to the photography shoot so that I can capture them at their best – for example abseiling window cleaners on the outside of a high rise don’t make a good look!

Working with my wife Sue, we then treat each of our client’s chosen images with selective attention in post-production to create images that highlight the most important elements.

With many years’ experience as a commercial architectural photographer, combining technical skills with a keen eye for detail and a lifelong love of all styles of architecture, we welcome the opportunity to talk to you about your commercial property and help you turn your vision into beautiful images.  Samples of some of our commercial architecture projects are below.
